Holidays were always my favorite time, staying at home, watching TV, dancing, and especially eating. It was overwhelming. It was the only time I could do anything I wanted because Mom and Dad mostly took us on vacation. But this time, it wasn’t what I expected. It was on a Sunday, and I was reading an interesting story named “Kasi” when my dad came back from his office. He was excited and called me and my younger brother, Boi, to have dinner with him in the dining table. My mom was also curious to know why he was excited. Soon, the food was ready, and we all started eating. I was happy seeing my family smiling and happy. Dad looked at Mom with so much love in his eyes, which made me happy. All I kept doing was smiling with my open teeth, like I had won billions. I couldn’t control my excitement because I was expecting news from Dad about where we were going for the holiday. But it seemed Dad didn’t want to talk about it. After some minutes, he eventually said something. My ears had been craving to hear it since. “We are visiting Grandma!” he said with an amazing tone. “What? No way!” I said, standing up from where I was sitting. Boi, who was two years younger, was happy, smiling, and jumping. “Yeah, I love Grandma!” he said, smiling. Grandma was cool, as Mom had described her, but that meant we were going to the village. I had heard from my friends at school that villages were full of witches and demons. I wasn’t excited at all. This was the most ridiculous news I had ever heard in my life. After some days, Mom and Dad took off from their offices and started preparing our trip. As much as I didn’t want to go, I had to do something to stop the trip. I took hours thinking of an idea on how to stop the trip. Eventually, I got an idea. I tripped on the step and pretended to break my ankle, but it went wrong. “Don’t worry, you will get well soon. We have someone in the village who can help you get well quickly,” my dad said. Next, I tried hiding the money Dad gave to Mom for shopping, but it failed too because Dad sent her another one. I became frustrated and gave up. “Would it be that bad to visit Grandma?” I thought, as I saw what my eyes couldn’t believe.
